Our third store is now open in Park Slope, Brooklyn.  We are close to the F train, Prospect Park and great after work spots such as Beer Table and Brookvin.  Come and visit us as soon as you can…we are really happy with our new spot and excited to show it off!

Congratulations to our barista extraordinaire Colleen, who, after a week of eating only oatmeal as to not mess with her palate, became Q certified today.

For those of you wondering what on earth that is, here is an overview:

“At the backbone of the Q Grading System are Licensed Q Graders, professional cuppers accredited by the Coffee Quality Institute. These Q Graders must pass a rigorous three-day exam to earn their certification, comprising 22 sections on coffee related subjects, such as green grading, roast identification, coffee cupping, sensory skills and sensory triangulation.”

So, basically, Colleen is now a certified super cupper…Watch out everybody!

I just saw this poster for the May Hearts & Crafts Affair. It is incredible (as expected), which inspired me to write a little about the artist - Alex Kim.

Alex has been drinking coffee with us since 2005. In fact, he was one of the friends that helped build the original counter in Greenpoint. From those humble beginnings, he left for Vermont to draw, but now he is back in NYC.

His first graphic novel, Wall City, was awarded the Xeric grant in 2008. See more of his work here.
