Cafe Grumpy and Bakery Lower East Side
Café Grumpy Lower East Side opened in the Spring of 2011. Come in for a coffee then sit and relax on one of our benches outside. On Saturdays during the summer, you can also visit us across the street at the Hester Street Fair.

This store had quite a history in the neighborhood as it used to be home to Zelig Blumenthal’s Judaica shop. We exposed the original brick walls (even uncovering two previously hidden windows) and kept the old tile floor in tact.

Next door to the Lower East Side store is the Café Grumpy Bakery where we bake all of the pastries and goodies that you find at our cafes. We use fresh seasonal ingredients from local farms and use organic products wherever possible. We are focused on creating unique and delicious items that pair well with coffee & tea – often using the tasting notes of the coffee as inspiration.

Our pastry selections change daily and seasonally, so stop by for a visit and see what is in the case. On Saturdays & Sundays, we also bake bread (available in the Lower East Side and Greenpoint shops).
