Guest Espresso – Koke Co-op
“Koke is a small town in the sub region of Yirga Cheffe called Gedeo, in southern Ethiopia. Unlike the arid landscape of North Western Ethiopia, Yirga Cheffe is lush and green with plenty of water. These conditions contribute to the clean, floral and vibrant characteristics of the coffee.
The mill is owned and operated by Solomon Worku. Koke won first place in a competition hosted by the East African Fine Coffee Association in 2007 and third in 2008. The cooperative has 490 members, and producers have an average farm size of 1 hectare.
